BIOGRAPHY
Scientist. Mentor. Educator. Diversity & Inclusion Practitioner
Dr. Fadie T. Coleman is the new Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She received her B.A. from Boston University, her M.A. in Biology from Harvard University, and her doctorate from the BUSM Department of Microbiology. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Department of Pathology/Transfusion Medicine. She has been recognized for scientific research, teaching and mentoring excellence, including being a 2021 Metcalf Award recipient—Boston University’s highest award for teaching excellence, which highlights her transformative work towards diversifying STEM. Dr. Coleman is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion work that celebrates the individual and embraces the empowering nature of the collective. Driven by her belief in people and their potential to succeed beyond their circumstances, Dr. Coleman is intentional about helping everyone feel heard, seen, and valued. She works to lead change by being empathetic, transparent, self-reflective, and willing to share her lived experiences in order to achieve inclusive excellence in the sciences, medicine, and academy.

Biomedical Laboratory and Clinical Sciences Program (BLCS) is a rigorous biomedical science degree program to educate and train undergraduates seeking to enter the biomedical/health science workforce. BLCS prepares students for jobs and careers in the fields of biomedical research, biotechnology and clinical research by combining general undergraduate education with specialized science and hands-on laboratory training for success in the biomedical workforce.

Boston University Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (BU PREP) is year-long post-baccalaureate program designed to prepare under-represented minority students to be competitive for graduate school admissions. BU PREP is designed to foster mentoring relationships that will enhance personal and scientific development for members of historically underrepresented groups in the biomedical sciences.
